HomeMade Chili

This chili recipe is bold in flavor and can be adjusted for spiciness. I use Better than Bouillon organic chicken base for extra flavor and season with a tiny amount of salt if needed. Using black beans or a mix of black and kidney beans is also delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp hot chili powder
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper powder
  • kosher salt to taste or use Better than Bouillon organic chicken base for extra flavor
  • 1 tsp cane sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Tobasco sauce
  • 1 bottle of dark beer or 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 jalepenos chopped or 4oz canned
  • 2- 15oz can diced tomatoes
  • 2- 15oz can kidney beans (low sodium)
  • 1- 6oz can tomato paste
  • dash of Worcestershire sauce
  • chopped green onions, cheese, sour cream as garnish (optional)

Steps

  1. in a large pot, cook the ground beef and crumble with a wooden spatula or spoon
  2. add chopped onion and saute until softened
  3. add the garlic and spices and saute another couple of minutes
  4. now combine the rest of the ingredients and stir well
  5. bring to a boil and then reduce to simmer for about 30 minutes
  6. put chopped green onions, cheese, and sour cream in small bowls for guests to garnish as desired
