This chili recipe is bold in flavor and can be adjusted for spiciness. I use Better than Bouillon organic chicken base for extra flavor and season with a tiny amount of salt if needed. Using black beans or a mix of black and kidney beans is also delicious.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
- 1 large onion chopped
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 Tbsp hot chili powder
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper powder
- kosher salt to taste or use Better than Bouillon organic chicken base for extra flavor
- 1 tsp cane sugar
- 1/2 tsp Tobasco sauce
- 1 bottle of dark beer or 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 jalepenos chopped or 4oz canned
- 2- 15oz can diced tomatoes
- 2- 15oz can kidney beans (low sodium)
- 1- 6oz can tomato paste
- dash of Worcestershire sauce
- chopped green onions, cheese, sour cream as garnish (optional)
Steps
- in a large pot, cook the ground beef and crumble with a wooden spatula or spoon
- add chopped onion and saute until softened
- add the garlic and spices and saute another couple of minutes
- now combine the rest of the ingredients and stir well
- bring to a boil and then reduce to simmer for about 30 minutes
- put chopped green onions, cheese, and sour cream in small bowls for guests to garnish as desired
