This is a recipe that can be easily adjusted to taste. Most recipes use lime juice instead of lemon juice but I prefer the taste of lemon. Plus, we have a lemon tree in the backyard that practically produces wonderful lemons all year round. If you’re not a fan of cilantro, you can always substitute with flat leaf parsley.
Ingredients
- 2 large ripe avocados
- 2-3 Tbsp minced red or yellow onion
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- 1 small to medium tomato, core and seeds removed and chopped
- 2 Tbsp chopped cilantro or flat leaf parsley
- 1/2 jalapeno, finely chopped
- 1/2 lemon or lime, juiced
- salt and pepper to taste
- small pinch of ground cumin (optional)
Steps
- mash the avocados to whatever consistency you prefer. I like to use a potato masher.
- stir in the rest of the ingredients and adjust the salt to your taste (remember that most tortilla chips will be salted)
